Did you miss me?! Well no worries loves because I AM BACK!
I’m going to kick this off by finally reviewing my Lara bars and Epic bars in full, I know you’ve been awaiting this post anxiously! 😉
I will say my absolute favorite thing about both of these bars is I can read, and understand exactly what ALL of the ingredients are! As you might know I am dabbling in the world of Paleo, getting my feet wet if you will. I figure if I experiment with different products and recipes then I will feel more comfortable/less anxiety riddled when I finally decide to go full in. So short ingredient lists made up of real food makes me very happy.
Lara bars are Gluten free, dairy free, soy free, non-gmo, vegan AND kosher! That is a lot of free that translates into Pure Natural joy.
For the Lara bars the flavors I tried were Banana Bread, Blueberry Muffin, Peanut butter and Jelly and Peanut butter Cookie. Hands down the Peanut butter and Jelly one was my absolute favorite! The ingredients list is as follows: Dates, Peanuts, Unsweetened Cherries and Sea salt. Four, read them FOUR ingredients! Crazyness.
You wouldn’t think it but the unsweetened cherries are an extremely close second to actual jelly! Correct me if I’m wrong but I do believe most/all Lara bars have dates in them, they act as the binding agent keeping the ingredients in bar form instead of gloopy bundle of stuff form. As well as acting as a natural sweetener/sugar for the bars.
While I thought all the bars tasted good if I had to rank the flavors from most favorite to least it would basically be Peanut butter and Jelly, then a three-way tie for second, haha.
As of today I also have the Apple Pie flavor on stand by to try after my coworker said it was pretty delicious. She couldn’t resist getting one to try after I raved about them. She got it when we went to Whole foods together, which if you recall was only one of like five trips to Whole foods I made that week. It was glorious.
If you are interested in giving Lara bars a try I do want to mention that you check the ingredients. A few of the bars do have sugar added, naturally of course, but it is added. I don’t know exactly which ones but I do know that the Peanut butter Chocolate chip does. It’s added in the form of the chocolate, so it’s really not a big deal because it’s chocolate lol. I only mention it incase you are looking to use these for a food challenge like I will be. Other than those few bars do not be frightened by the grams of sugar, as I was at first, because all of the sugar comes naturally from the fruits.
I’m going to wrap this post up since it’s gotten a wee bit long, I’ll do a separate post for the epic bars. BUT let me know your favorite Lara bar flavors, or if you’re thinking of giving them a shot! Anyone have any suggestions for some natural bars or snack I should try? At the moment I’m using Lara and Epic as my breakfasts with some fruit or protein. (Fruit is paired with Epic and protein with Lara.)
Please drop me a line and let me know you’re still around!
XOXO
